Like DNA, our songs are made up of strands of music and lyric and meaning and memory – so much can happen when we change one strand. Do you have a song fragment that started strong and then somehow lost energy? Or maybe you have a line of lyric ? Or a bit of melody. Or maybe just an idea.
In this class we will look at what makes a well-written song and apply those tools to our orphaned song-pieces. This might mean we have to do a radical re-write: strip the fragment to its very bones.
