In this class we will learn traditional, southern fiddling and strive to get that real, “old-time” sound.  We’ll explore bowing techniques, (pulses/ rocks/ patterns), and noting-hand ornamentation as well.  We’ll talk about the “rhythmic skeleton” of the tune, how cool bowing accents are, and the back-beat so we can find our groove. If class participants would like we can also discuss how to back-up a song. And my favorite…there will be stories and history about the older fiddlers whose music has inspired generations.

Recording device recommended. Less experienced fiddlers are welcome to audit/or participate though class will be geared to Int./Adv. players.
