When the patriarchs of this guitar style, Doc Watson and Clarence White, began playing fiddle tunes on the guitar, they were emulating (duh…) FIDDLERS! We may do a bit of the same, listening to some fiddle versions and discussing how to transfer them to guitar, as well as discussing flatpick technique and exploring some transcribed arrangements. We may also discuss the nature of improvisation in these styles.
