This is essentially the study of playing melodies along with underlying chords. We’ll discuss specific structures and sequences of chords, showing both simple chords and more sophisticated substitution chords, and work on playing specific melodies as well as improvised passages. The style is most applicable to “Great American Songbook” tunes from the 1st half of the 20th century.
