As we celebrate 30 years of Summer Acoustic Music Weeks and WUMB’s Acoustic Music Camps, the WUMB Advisory Council is expanding our “Bring Live Music Into Communities” program! This initiative, which offers live music programming to residents who are unable to attend live concerts in their community, was launched during the Summer of 2023. Inspired by SAMW camper alum Howie Rashba, several campers have performed 1-hour concerts in residential living locations around Massachusetts, to the delight of both residents and facility administrators…and we want to do more!
But for that, we need…you!! We are hoping to recruit a roster of volunteer performers, to bring the gift of your music to resident audiences who would otherwise be unable to enjoy this kind of live performance. We’ll select a facility that is convenient to you, and coordinate with the facility to schedule your 1-hour performance. On the day, you just show up, set up, and play!

If you’d like to get involved, please email [email protected] and let us know! We need to know who will be performing, where you are located, how far you are willing to travel to perform, and if you have access to a small PA or other sound reinforcement system. We’ll do the rest.
These concerts have brought great joy both to the residents who have attended them, and to the campers who have performed. Our goal is to spread that joy around as widely as possible, and we hope YOU will be a part of it. Please check out the Bring Live Music gallery to see some pictures from past performances, and we look forward to hearing from you!
