Kate Long’s moving songs and stories spring from a lifetime of teaching and grassroots organizing. A West Virginia native, she is an award-winning songwriter and an inspiring teacher/ singer/storyteller/journalist. Her four CDs of her songs include classics like “Who’ll Watch the Homeplace,” “McNamara’s Tear” and “Little Girl God” that give extraordinary glimpses into the lives of ordinary people. She has taught at numerous music camps, including Augusta Heritage Festival, The Swannanoa Gathering and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop.

Kate Long has used song to move people in grassroots organizing, disaster recovery, and environmental protest. She now directs Try This West Virginia, a statewide healthy-community network.
