Over the course of two decades, Maura Kennedy has written and co-written over a hundred songs as a member of The Kennedys including some, like “Stand” and “Life is Large”, that have become classics in the contemporary folk canon. Her lyrical and melodic style have a quality of uplift and encouragement, and her longtime work with Nanci Griffith as accompanist, co-writer and producer has given her an insider’s view of the process and inspiration behind writing songs that come straight from the heart. Maura teaches songwriting at Gilda’s Club in New York City, and she’s currently working on songs for an upcoming Kennedys CD.
