Together we’ll listen to and learn old Appalachian songs and new originals from experts like Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard, The Carter Family, and Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings. We’ll begin each class in a large group with vocal warm-ups and will make time to break out into smaller groups to focus on part-singing. We’ll talk about how to identify a harmony part in a song and learn some tips for practicing on your own. Whether you’ve sung in choirs or bands your entire life or you’re just finding your voice, you are welcome in this ensemble!
