This class will provide new mandolin players with a handful of useful intervals and chord shapes that can be used all over the mandolin fingerboard and to develop simple accompaniment techniques. Using Carl Jones’s Six Magic Shapes, we’ll see how these shapes repeat up and across the fingerboard, and how they can be transposed to different keys. Students should bring a mandolin and recording device to class. Handouts will be provided.
