Over the course of the week we’ll divide our time between understanding open tunings and slide technique.
All the major key open tunings on guitar share a certain structure. When you have learned one, you have learned something about them all. This is recyclable guitar knowledge that can be transferred into new contexts.
Using a slide on a guitar is different from playing slide guitar: playing slide requires controlling the sound that comes out of the instrument using both right and left hand muting techniques. If you have ever had the hair stand up on the back of your neck at the sound of well-played slide, this is the class for you. We’ll look at slide in standard and open tunings.
